With more than 20 years in the makeup and skincare industry, I am always asked for the best proactive, at-home routine for healthy skin. My answer is this: If you are not coming to me for a skin assessment, you should see a dermatologist or another esthetician who can help identify what type of skin you have and what will work best with it. At Leah Chavie Skincare Boutique, we first take a look at what’s happening with your skin, what type of lifestyle you lead and develop a program to treat, prevent and beautify. You should be going to get a professional facial every four to six weeks!
There are many things you can do at home! Use eye cream - if not all the time, then definitely at night. Keep it in the refrigerator for better results. The coolness provides a tightening effect, further decreasing puffiness and improving circulation.
I recommend a Clarisonic brush for daily cleansing. Use in conjunction with a facial cleanser recommended by your esthetician or dermatologist (such as Biologique Recherche’s Lait U cleanser). Work it around the entire face in figure eight motions around the eyes to assist with puffiness and product penetration. The brush improves circulation and helps with deep pore cleansing- removing six times more dirt and oil than regular manual cleansing.
You should add a dash of baking soda to your at-home clarifying or purifying masks to increase antibacterial properties.
Also, use Epsom salt in warm water (let it dissolve first) to remove masks and use it to wash your face with when your face feels bloated. It will help decrease the water retention and is wound-healing.
Some other products I highly recommend and sell in my store include the Jane Iredale Magic Mitt. For those with super sensitive skin, it removes all your makeup and impurities without affecting the pH level of the skin, with no need for a cleanser.
We sell some tricks to achieve flawless looks, too:
We all know the key to healthy skin is a good night’s rest. Look refreshed and rejuvenated with all-natural sleep aids like Sleep Squares from the Dream Institute in New York. A sugar-free chocolate square that comes in three flavors that you eat before bedtime.
To achieve flawless legs and assist in covering leg veins and bruising, try spray-on panty hose. Made in Japan this spray comes in a variety of shades to conceal while infusing green tea, silk, and caffeine to help treat your skin.
I’m always available for consultation or questions.
